The healthcare sector has particularly complex needs; those of clinicians and patients must be balanced against the requirement for government regulation, which is rigorous and constantly changing. This makes the area one of the most demanding for building services providers, but Halsion can meet all challenges.
Our in-house design office has 9 CAD workstations, all networked to colour and black and white plotters, but when necessary staff can also make use of traditional drawing-board skills, as well as the most up-to-date design software. This flexible approach is essential when dealing with sectors such as healthcare.
However, our design team is more than equal to the job. In fact, as one engineer says, “I enjoy creating systems for hospitals precisely because it’s so challenging!”
Health & Safety: our top priority at work
For Halsion, H&S issues are always the first priority in all projects, not only at site level in the contract period but also at the design stage, where CDM issues for user safety during post-contract maintenance are also taken very seriously.
Our own safety standards are second to none. Our in-house Safety Manager ensures that we have all the relevant certification for use of plant and equipment, that staff members are fully trained and that information is constantly updated.
Regular safety meetings, courses and ‘Toolbox-talks’ keep Halsion site operatives briefed on particular problems or hazards faced on individual projects, while our MIOSH-trained, independent safety consultant monitors our progress, providing us with objective feedback and advice.
